Sugaring | Perth City West Salon

A Natural, Rooted Alternative to Waxing

Sugaring is more than just hair removal. With origins tracing back to ancient beauty rituals, this method uses a paste based on a natural blend of sugar, lemon, and water to gently remove hair without harsh chemicals or resins. Our City West salon is now offering this time-honoured treatment as a natural option for those looking for a holistic beauty routine.

Why Choose Sugaring Over Waxing?

Unlike waxing, sugaring doesn’t stick to live skin cells. That means it removes hair with less trauma to the skin, resulting in a gentler experience and fewer ingrown hairs. Because the paste is applied at body temperature and removed in the direction of hair growth, clients often report noticeably reduced pain and irritation compared to traditional waxing.

Sugaring is particularly suitable for sensitive skin types and is ideal for those who value a more sustainable and skin-friendly approach to hair removal.

Expertise That Respects the Tradition

This year our City West location has delighted in the addition of a trained technician who has specialised in this technique for many years to our team. With a background including traditional training aligned with the cultural origins of sugaring, we are able to offer our Perth clients a unique alternative to painful hair removal methods performed with both authenticity and precision. Experience the benefits of not only experience but a calm, informed approach that respects the integrity of your skin.

A Holistic Approach to Skin

Sugaring fits seamlessly into a broader wellness-focused beauty routine. With its all-natural ingredients and low-impact technique, it supports healthier skin over time. Many of our clients are choosing it not just for smoother skin, but for a more conscious self-care experience.

FAQ

1. What is sugaring?
Sugaring is a natural hair removal method using a paste made from sugar, water, and lemon juice. It removes hair from the root with minimal irritation.

2. Is sugaring less painful than waxing?
Yes, most clients find sugaring noticeably gentler. The paste doesn’t stick to live skin cells and is removed in the direction of hair growth, which reduces discomfort.

3. How long does my hair need to be?
We recommend at least 5mm (about a grain of rice) in length to allow the paste to grip effectively.

4. Is sugaring suitable for sensitive skin?
Absolutely. Sugaring contains no resins or additives, making it ideal for sensitive or reactive skin types.

5. How long do the results last?
Most clients enjoy smooth skin for 3 to 5 weeks, depending on hair growth cycles.

6. Can I get sugaring while pregnant?
Trialling any service for the first time during pregnancy contains a level of risk. We recommend you discuss this with your health-care provider. In general, the service is not contra-indicated during pregnancy and we have performed this service on clients during pregnancy .

7. What about aftercare
Like other types of hair removal, avoid heat (like saunas or hot showers), friction, and exfoliants for 24–48 hours. Light exfoliation after that can help prevent ingrown hairs.
